Everything You Need To Know: FC Barcelona vs Aston Villa

The Blaugrana are looking to put their defeat against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes and their LaLiga loss to archrivals Real Madrid behind them.

The Blaugrana return home to host Aston Villa on Matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase, looking to get back to winning ways

Barcelona and Aston Villa are set to headline one of the most exciting matchups of Matchday 4 in the UEFA Champions League league phase. Spotify Camp Nou will host a clash between two teams with major objectives in the competition: the Catalan side is looking to make up ground, while the English club aims to maintain its perfect record in Europe.

The match will take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:00 PM local time in Spain (3:00 PM ET / 12:00 PM PT). Follow all the action HERE with our LIVE BLOG on beIN SPORTS USA.

Each team will play eight matches before the standings determine which clubs advance to the knockout stages.

BARCELONA LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK IN EUROPE

Hansi Flick's side heads into this matchup looking to regain its momentum after suffering a 4-2 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in its previous Champions League outing. The loss brought Barcelona's perfect start to an end, leaving the Spanish giants with six points from a possible nine.

However, the Blaugrana have since regained confidence with a commanding 6-1 victory over Alavés in LaLiga.

Lamine Yamal, one of Barcelona's standout performers, is enjoying an outstanding run of form, with 12 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. The Catalan side will also be looking to address its defensive struggles, having gone 18 consecutive Champions League matches without keeping a clean sheet.

ASTON VILLA AIMING TO EXTEND PERFECT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RUN

On the other side, Unai Emery has plenty of reasons to be optimistic. The English side has won all three of its opening Champions League fixtures, defeating Club Brugge, Fenerbahçe 6-0, and Viking 3-1. Those results have kept Aston Villa among the top teams in the league phase standings.

One of Villa's main attacking threats will be Emiliano Buendía, who has scored in each of his last four appearances in European competitions, recording four goals during that run. Nicolas Jackson is another key figure in the Villans' attacking setup.

HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD AND EXPECTATIONS

Although Barcelona enters the matchup as the favorite, Aston Villa has enough quality to make this historic Champions League meeting a competitive contest.

The history between the two clubs is limited.

Their most recent competitive meeting dates back to the 1982-83 European Super Cup, when Aston Villa claimed a 3-0 victory in the second leg to secure a 3-1 aggregate triumph, after Barcelona had won the first leg by a single goal.

The teams had previously met in the 1978 UEFA Cup quarterfinals, when the Spanish club eliminated the English side in Barcelona. The Blaugrana won the second leg 2-1 to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in England.

Flick's mission will be to make the most of home advantage and get Barcelona's European campaign back on track. Meanwhile, Emery will be looking to deliver a statement win and preserve Aston Villa's perfect record. Three points could significantly change the outlook for both teams in the Champions League.
