ALL GOALS: FC Barcelona vs Aston Villa | UEFA Champions League
The Blaugrana are back on track in Europe after their defeat to PSG, while also bringing Aston Villa’s unbeaten run to an end.
Hansi Flick’s Barcelona got back on track with an impressive 3-0 home victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday in Matchday 4 of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League league phase.
Buoyed by their emphatic win over Racing Santander in LaLiga last weekend and their manager’s promise that they would make history this season, the Blaugrana came out determined to return to winning ways. Lamine Yamal was particularly influential, making an immediate impact from the opening minutes.
A BLAUGRANA REVIVAL LED BY LAMINE YAMAL
In the 7th minute, Barcelona capitalized on their high press to take the lead. Yamal fired a precise left-footed shot past the goalkeeper after Joao Gomes gifted him possession while attempting to play out from the back alongside goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. The Spanish international needed no second invitation to punish the mistake.
RAPHINHA'S UNUSUAL BRACE
Despite Unai Emery’s players attempting to fight their way back into the contest, Barcelona doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute. Raphinha found the net with a left-footed effort from the edge of the penalty area, following a clever pass from Fermín López.
The Brazilian completed his brace in the 65th minute, calmly finishing after a spectacular run down the left flank and an outstanding outside-of-the-foot assist from Joao Cancelo.
With this result, Barcelona move into second place with nine points, just behind PSG, who boast a perfect record of four wins from four matches. Aston Villa, despite suffering their first defeat in the competition, have the same number of points as the Blaugrana but sit third due to goal difference.
