Thomas Tuchel has left Cole Palmer out of his latest England squad, but Jobe Bellingham and Josh King have both received their first call-ups for the Nations League.
Palmer left out by England as Jobe Bellingham and King earn maiden call-ups
Thomas Tuchel has named his 25-man squad for the upcoming Nations League games, with Cole Palmer a big-name absentee for England.
Palmer has made a strong start to the season for Chelsea, racking up eight goal involvements in all competitions (five goals, three assists).
However, having been left out of the World Cup squad, and then dropping out before the extended three-week break earlier this season, Tuchel said he "misses too many opportunities to play for England", and the 24-year-old has now been omitted.
He is one of two big-name omissions, with Phil Foden also not included despite a return to form for Manchester City.
Tuchel has instead looked to new faces, with Jobe Bellingham joining older brother Jude in the squad, having impressed for Borussia Dortmund so far this season.
He has played in all but one of Dortmund's matches in all competitions so far, and ranks second for tackles won (17), interceptions (19) and possession won (67), all behind Waldemar Anton.
Should Jobe Bellingham make his debut, the Bellinghams would become the fourth pair of brothers to represent England in the modern era.
King is the other player to receive his maiden call-up ahead of the final Nations League matches against Croatia and Spain.
The Fulham academy graduate was part of England's preparation camp ahead of the 2026 World Cup and has now been included in the squad proper after impressing at the start of the season with two goals and one assist in the Premier League.
There is also a return to the squad for Ben White for the first time since March, while Arsenal team-mate Declan Rice is back, having missed the last camp through injury.
The Three Lions still have to contend with injuries, with Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, Alex Scott and Trevoh Chalobah all unable to be called upon, though Djed Spence is back in the squad for the first time since the World Cup after returning to fitness.
England will face Croatia at Wembley Stadium on November 12 before travelling to Madrid to face Spain three days later.
Tuchel's side currently sit second in Group A4, three points behind Spain, with the top two securing a place in the Nations League quarter-finals in March.
