Joint tribute by RFEF, LaLiga and Liga F

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), LaLiga and Liga F will pay tribute to Jesús de Miguel, a CD Tenerife player who died last Tuesday, with several events under the slogan 'Always in our memory', including a stoppage in the 9th minute of all matches played this weekend.

Through a joint statement published this Thursday, the three institutions explained what the events in memory of the footballer will be like, which will take place before and during the matches of the next matchday, from November 6 to 9, with a pause in the 9th minute, in reference to the shirt number he wore, which will be accompanied by the playing of a video on the videoboards of the respective stadiums.

Previous ceremony and minute of silence

First, the starting players of both teams will come out onto the pitch intermingled and wearing a special shirt with the number 9 and the slogan 'Always in our memory'.

Together with the referees, they will form a semicircle embracing around the spot on the pitch where last Monday's incident occurred. There, the captains, who will come out last, will lay a floral tribute in his memory.

A minute of silence will then be observed, during which the videoboards and stadium screens will show an image of Jesús de Miguel.

That minute of silence will also be extended to all national-level competitions organized by the RFEF and Liga F that are played during those days.

In addition, on Saturday, at 18:00 (Canary Islands time; 19:00 mainland Spain time), CD Tenerife will hold a solemn tribute at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium in memory of the player, open to all its fans.

The event can be followed live on the LaLiga Hypermotion channel and LaLiga's official YouTube channel, as well as on the RFEF's channels.

"Understanding and respecting the different sensibilities expressed in these moments of grief, the intention is that the entire professional football family can remember the player with the respect, dignity and recognition he deserves," the statement reads.

Suspension of matches and funeral

Jesús de Miguel, 30 years old, died on Tuesday after suffering a blow during the match played against FC Andorra. This Thursday, the funeral mass was held at the parish church of San Miguel Arcángel de Navahermosa, where his family is originally from.

On the other hand, it was announced that three matches of matchday 13 of LaLiga Hypermotion have been suspended, involving Tenerife (the club he played for), Andorra (the club against which the tragic episode occurred) and Castellón (the club where De Miguel played from 2023 to 2025): CD Castellón–SD Eibar, Granada CF–CD Tenerife and FC Andorra–RCD Mallorca.

Additionally, Liga F will postpone the match between Costa Adeje Tenerife and Deportivo Alavés.

The new dates for the playing of these matches will be announced "soon." EFE
