Nikola Milenkovic's unfortunate own goal handed the hosts the lead before Igor Thiago wrapped up the points late on, with only his second league goal of the campaign.
Brentford win piles more pressure on Glasner
Brentford returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Gtech Community Stadium, ending a three-match wait for maximum points.
It was a relatively subdued opening, with Mamadou Sangare and Thiago both threatening for the Bees either side of a Liam Delap effort that sailed well over the crossbar.
The deadlock was broken on the half-hour mark when Milenkovic was caught out by Dango Ouattara's low delivery, with the defender unable to evade the cross as the ball looped off him, beyond the despairing Matz Sels, and into the net.
James McAtee attempted to inspire a response from the visitors and came close to doing so, cutting inside before seeing a well-struck effort flash wide of the target.
Keith Andrews' side then came within inches of doubling their advantage before the interval, as Mathias Jensen's superb free-kick cannoned back off the crossbar.
The Tricky Trees emerged from the break with more energy and looked to raise the tempo after substitutes Ryan Yates and Daniel Munoz entered the contest.
Yates nearly made an instant impact when he met Morgan Gibbs-White's excellent delivery, but his diving header drifted over the crossbar.
Gibbs-White was involved again moments later, meeting a corner at the far post and directing a header back across goal, only for Thiago to be on hand to do his defensive duties.
Forest's pressure eventually began to subside, though, and Brentford capitalised to make the result safe.
In the 76th minute, substitute Jaidon Anthony produced an excellent run down the right before picking out Thiago, who bundled home via another unfortunate deflection off Milenkovic.
Forest boss Oliver Glasner admitted something must change to improve the fortunes of his side, which he has watched fail to score in five of its nine Premier League games this season.
"It's the same story as every week, but if things always happen in the same way, there's a pattern," he said.
"Today it's completely clear, we have to change something."
It is a stark assessment from a manager who arrived at Forest in July after a hugely successful spell with Crystal Palace, who he guided to FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Conference League glory.
Glasner also pointed to recurring errors at both ends of the pitch.
"We are making too many mistakes. This just can't be. It's so obvious. We are slow, making the same mistakes, always different players," he added.
"If you miss chances all the time, it's also a pattern. I don't want to talk about statistics because they don't count. We didn't score a goal and we conceded two."
Glasner did reserve praise for Brentford's second goal, describing it as a "fantastic counter-attack".
The move was finished by Thiago, who found the net for just the second time in the Premier League this season.
"It's a good feeling," the Brazilian said. "I'm delighted to score one more goal for Brentford.
"I must thank the fans because they have been so supportive of me throughout the whole journey.
"When people believe in you, you feel like you can go even more."
