Dusan Vlahović Keeps Scoring, but Beşiktaş Keep Dropping Points
The Serbian striker is enjoying an impressive start to life in Turkish football, but his goals aren't always translating into victories. Beşiktaş's latest draw exposed a recurring problem that threatens their title ambitions.
Dusan Vlahović is living up to expectations at Beşiktaş. The Serbian striker has scored seven goals in eight Süper Lig appearances, but his impressive performances haven't been enough to keep the Istanbul club among the leading title contenders.
The latest example came on November 1 against Kasımpaşa. Beşiktaş were leading 2-0 after Vlahović scored in the 47th minute, but they allowed their opponents back into the game and eventually settled for a 2-2 draw after conceding an 87th-minute equalizer.
The result left Vincenzo Italiano's side fourth with 19 points after ten matches, six behind league leaders Galatasaray. That gap is becoming increasingly concerning, with Beşiktaş having dropped points in four league matches already.
A Striker Delivering the Goals
Vlahović has adapted quickly to Turkish football. Since arriving in August, the Serbian forward has established himself as Beşiktaş's main attacking threat, scoring seven goals in 638 league minutes, an average of one goal every 91 minutes.
His most impressive performance came with a hat-trick against Çorum FK in a 6-2 victory. He also scored the winner in a 2-1 derby victory over Fenerbahçe, while finding the net against Amedspor, Kocaelispor, and Kasımpaşa.

Beşiktaş Keep Letting Matches Slip Away
Scoring goals hasn't been Beşiktaş's main problem. The team have found the net 20 times in ten league matches, but they have also conceded 12 goals and recorded three defeats and one draw.
Their 3-2 defeat to Amedspor was particularly frustrating, as Vlahović scored but couldn't prevent his team from losing. A 2-0 defeat against Trabzonspor followed, before the draw with Kasımpaşa saw Beşiktaş surrender a two-goal advantage.
Those results have proved costly in the standings. While Galatasaray, Amedspor, and Trabzonspor continue setting the pace, Beşiktaş are losing valuable ground against the teams competing near the top.
Vincenzo Italiano Faces a Major Challenge
The Italian coach needs to find a better balance between attack and defense. Beşiktaş have shown they can compete against strong opponents, as demonstrated by their victory over Fenerbahçe, but they have also struggled to protect leads when matches become difficult.
Their next opportunity to respond comes on Sunday, November 8, at home against Gençlerbirliği. It is an important chance to close the gap before the teams above them pull further ahead.
Vlahović is doing his part, but if Beşiktaş want to remain in the title race, they need to turn his goals into more victories.
Vlahović and Beşiktaş by the Numbers

- Beşiktaş: fourth with 19 points after ten rounds.
